The Finan lab uses human in vitro models to better understand traumatic brain injury (TBI). We built a device to injure human brain cells derived from stem cells, and we use it to address the following questions:

What genetic factors make some people more vulnerable to TBI than others?

How does TBI influence the risk of neurodegenerative disease in later life?

How does injury depend on the biomechanical properties of the brain, and how do the biomechanical properties of the brain depend on injury?
